## Description

New Books in German is a literary promotion initiative that helps German-language books reach English-speaking readers. Its website presents trusted, expert, independent recommendations of titles with potential to appeal to anglophone audiences, introducing readers to a wide range of stories and ideas from German-language literature. Recommended books benefit from guaranteed financial support for translation into English, helping publishers and translators bring selected works to new markets.

The site offers a searchable collection of book recommendations, information about funding, and guidance for submitting books for consideration. It also publishes news and editorial features, including jury selections, interviews with authors and translators, coverage of literary prizes, and updates on German-language titles appearing in English. New Books in German serves readers interested in discovering translated literature, as well as publishers, authors, translators, and other professionals involved in bringing books across languages. By combining recommendations, financial support, and industry information, the initiative connects German-language writing with the English-language publishing world and encourages the circulation of literature across cultures.
