The New Energy Challenge (NEC) is an annual open innovation competition that aims to accelerate the decarbonization of energy systems. It provides a platform for promising startups and scaleups in the energy sector to connect with stakeholders and develop emerging technologies that promote sustainability. The NEC is jointly organized by Rockstart, Shell, Unknown Group, and YES!Delft, ensuring a diverse range of expertise and support for participants. In this year's eighth edition, the NEC is specifically seeking global emerging technologies that focus on regenerative agriculture, the sustainable use of land and resources, and the utilization of waste as a feedstock for biofuels development. Participants can deliver solutions in various areas, including agriculture, carbon utilization, cleaner energy sources (such as biofuels), and digital solutions. The finalists will have the opportunity to engage in workshops, training sessions, and an accelerator program to develop their companies and products. They will also have access to investors and experts who can provide valuable support and funding for scaling their businesses.
