About
Description
The New England Amputee Association (NEAA) is a Massachusetts-based non-profit organization dedicated to providing resources and support for new amputees and their families. Founded in 2004 by Rose Bissonnette, who experienced the lack of support for amputees during her own recovery, NEAA has expanded its footprint to include multiple locations in Massachusetts and a support group in Rhode Island. NEAA collaborates with rehabilitation hospitals and facilities throughout the region to offer certified peer visitors who provide guidance and support to new amputees.
Additionally, the association invites guest speakers, including medical providers, prosthetists, and adaptive sports organizations, to share valuable information on various topics related to living with limb loss. NEAA hosts monthly group meetings, currently held via Zoom, where members can come together, exchange experiences, and gain support from one another. The association also organizes group activities such as cookouts, holiday parties, and an annual summer outing.
As part of their commitment to education, NEAA attends health fairs, speaks at organizations and schools, and engages with the community to raise awareness about living with limb loss. Join the New England Amputee Association to connect with a caring community that understands the challenges of limb loss and provides the support you need to navigate your journey effectively.
