## Description

Ngati Kea Ngati Tuara is committed to Protecting the Pekapeka, a vital mission that goes beyond just setting traps—it's a journey of dedication and heartfelt planning. Led by a passionate team, including Environmental Manager Kataraina George, the focus is on safeguarding the long-tailed pekapeka and understanding the heartbeat of the land. Through meticulous monitoring, traps, and bait stations strategically placed on the 1,427-hectare home of the pekapeka, the team strives to ensure their survival and thriving. Focusing on predator control, especially feral cats, rats, and stoats, the team aims to give the pekapeka the best chance at thriving. With the support of partners like Rebecca Stirnemann and the Waikato Regional Council, Ngati Kea Ngati Tuara is dedicated to uncovering the secrets of their sacred whenua and protecting its treasures for future generations.
