## Description

Koka Rīga is a wooden-building renovation centre based at Krāsotāju Street 12 in Riga, in a historic building dating to 1876. Opened in 2013 after renovation and reconstruction, the centre promotes the preservation and restoration of Riga’s wooden architecture and helps residents learn about traditional building methods. Its activities include specialist consultations, exhibitions, creative workshops and seminars, alongside research and outreach focused on the cultural heritage of Riga and the Grīziņkalns neighbourhood. The centre also develops and delivers tourist routes and works with local partners to encourage tourism in Riga’s neighbourhoods.

Visitors can explore displays on historic wooden buildings, architectural details and everyday life in Riga’s suburbs. Exhibits include a reconstructed fragment of a 19th-century wooden façade, period domestic settings, a collection of carpentry tools and a gallery of local portraits. The centre’s two-storey exhibition and conference hall hosts exhibitions, seminars and conferences, while its tourism information facilities support visitors discovering the city.
