# NGP Lausitzer Seenland - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `ngp-lausitzerseenland.de` ## Description The Lausitzer Seenland gemeinnützige GmbH leads the Nature Conservation Large-Scale Project Lausitzer Seenland, focused on protecting and developing post-mining landscapes in northeastern Saxony. These nutrient-poor, relatively undisturbed areas provide important habitats for rare wildlife and plants, including the tawny pipit, nightjar, hoopoe and diamond-leaved fern. The project works to secure large, connected areas over the long term and support viable populations of threatened species. Its activities include habitat conservation, maintenance and restoration, such as caring for sandy grasslands and heathland and using low-intensity grazing with sheep, Heck cattle and wild horses. Some areas are designated for natural processes, while carefully managed parts may later support public education and recreation. The organisation also carries out targeted species-support measures, including work for the silver moth in 2025–2027 across approximately 13 hectares, with support from the Free State of Saxony and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
