- **Primary alias:** `nic.ec`

## Description

NIC.ec is the official registry for Ecuador’s .ec domain names, helping individuals and organizations establish a distinct online identity connected to the country. The registry has operated since 1991 and describes its mission as supporting a secure, reliable, and geographically relevant internet for Ecuador. Its website lets users check whether a domain name is available, explore suggested alternatives, and manage an existing domain through an online account. Customers can register .ec domains directly or use an accredited registrar; registrars may offer additional services under their own responsibility. NIC.ec clarifies that it does not provide complementary services such as web hosting or email. The site also provides user guides, support, pricing information, policies, abuse reporting, RDAP access, and details about registrar agents. Special .gob.ec and .mil.ec domains are reserved for government and military entities and must be registered using the institution’s information. NIC.ec presents .ec as a way to build local trust, protect a brand name, improve visibility in local searches, and find more domain options.
