## Description

Nihon Dokan is an organization dedicated to researching and sharing Taoism, the ancient Chinese philosophy of living in harmony with the natural way, as described by Laozi and Zhuangzi. It serves as the cultural and research foundation for Taoist study and practice, and has developed connections with Taoist communities and researchers internationally. Its work is rooted in the teachings and lineage associated with the Daoist Longmen tradition and the legacy of its first leader, Tenrai Hayashima.

In 1992, Nihon Dokan established TAO ACADEMY, known in Japan as Doka Dogakuin, to make Taoist philosophy accessible through practical learning. The school offers three forms of qi training: Doyin-jutsu, movement-based training, and senshin-jutsu. Classes are available to people of all ages and genders, with locations and teaching groups across Japan, including Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Sapporo, and Iwaki. The academy also provides introductory experiences and individual information sessions. Through research, education, cultural exchange, and hands-on instruction, Nihon Dokan and TAO ACADEMY connect Taoist ideas with everyday practice.
