## Description

The National Medicines Institute (Narodowy Instytut Leków, NIL) is a Polish public research institution and State Laboratory for the Control of Medicinal Products. Based in Warsaw, it has contributed to the official control of medicines and medical devices since 1951. Its work supports public health through scientific research, regulatory assessment and laboratory services.

NIL conducts state quality control of medicinal products and medical devices, including preliminary and batch testing, and provides expert evaluation of registration documentation. Its services include comprehensive quality assessment of medicines and medical devices, microbiological expertise and genetic analyses. The Institute also carries out research and development addressing the needs of human and animal health, and supports reference centres and health programmes, including KOROUN and KORLD.

Through its research and service activities, NIL offers commissioned testing and specialist expertise to organisations and public authorities. It also provides scientific training, courses, seminars, student placements and opportunities related to doctoral and diploma research.
