The National Joint TERT Initiative (NJTI-TERT) is a comprehensive program developed by APCO International and NENA (National Emergency Number Association) to address the challenges faced by public safety communications centers in the aftermath of man-made and natural disasters. The initiative aims to maintain adequate staffing levels by establishing trained teams of individuals who can be quickly mobilized and deployed to assist communications centers during such emergencies. In addition to assisting individual states in developing their own TERT programs, NJTI-TERT focuses on training, planning for system restoration, multi-agency response, and evacuation.

The initiative also collaborates with government agencies such as NIMS and NEMA, as well as associations like IAEM, to provide mission critical assistance and resources. By standardizing processes and procedures related to TERT, NJTI-TERT ensures effective communication and coordination during disasters.
