About

Description

The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (NLBM) is the world's only museum dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history of African-American baseball. Located in Kansas City, Missouri's Historic 18th & Vine Jazz District, the NLBM is a privately funded, not-for-profit organization that was established in 1990. The NLBM operates just two blocks away from the Paseo YMCA, where Andrew Rube Foster established the Negro National League in 1920.

The museum opened its doors to the public in 1991 and has since become one of the most important cultural institutions in the world. Its mission is to give voice to a once-forgotten chapter of baseball and American history. Since moving into a new 10,000 square-foot facility in 1997, the NLBM has welcomed over 2 million visitors.

The museum features exhibits that pay tribute to America's unsung baseball heroes and explores the impact of African-American baseball on the social advancement of America. In addition to the exhibits, the NLBM also offers a gift shop where visitors can purchase merchandise related to the museum and the Negro Leagues. It is a must-visit destination for baseball fans and history enthusiasts alike
