## Description

Welcome to the Navy Lakehurst Historical Society (NLHS), a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the rich heritage of Naval Air Station Lakehurst in Lakehurst, New Jersey. Known for the infamous Hindenburg disaster, this historical site has witnessed numerous significant events. At NLHS, we aim to educate and inspire visitors about the station's remarkable history. Experience the legacy of the Hindenburg and other rigid airships like Shenandoah, Los Angeles, Akron, and Macon, which once called Lakehurst home. Additionally, Navy Lakehurst was the first international airport in the United States! But the station's contributions extend far beyond airships. It also played a pivotal role in research on aircraft ejection seats and carrier aircraft launch and recovery techniques. Today, as the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, the base continues its mission. Join us for a walking tour that delves into the fascinating stories and milestones of this important chapter in American history. Your support and donations are vital to our preservation efforts. Together, let's ensure that the legacy of Naval Air Station Lakehurst lives on for future generations.
