## Description

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) is a brand-new regulatory authority established in August 2021, in accordance with the Petroleum Industry Act 2021. This Act provides a legal and regulatory framework for the Nigerian Petroleum Industry and the development of Host Communities. Led by Mr. Farouk Ahmed as the Chief Executive, the NMDPRA is responsible for overseeing the midstream and downstream petroleum operations in Nigeria, including technical, operational, and commercial activities. Bringing together the defunct regulatory agencies, the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), Petroleum Equalization Fund {Management} Board (PEFMB), and the Midstream and Downstream Divisions of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), the NMDPRA aims to establish a progressive regulatory framework that promotes investment and optimization of the midstream and downstream sector of the petroleum industry. The Authority strives to stimulate sustainable development throughout Nigeria's Midstream and Downstream value chain by providing effective regulatory oversight.
