## Description

The Norfolk Historical Society (NHS) is a community-focused organization dedicated to protecting, preserving, and promoting the history and heritage of Norfolk County. Founded in 1900, the Society works to keep local stories and historical knowledge accessible to current residents and future generations. It invites community members to support this mission through individual and family memberships, donations, volunteering, and participation in its activities.

The NHS supports local history through a range of programs and initiatives. These include historical events and workshops, commemorative activities, fundraising, and its Gallery Series Talks. The Society also works with local historical, heritage, and cultural organizations and aims to support youth scholarships and grants for students interested in history, community work, or genealogy. It plans to establish a Local History Award recognizing contributions to preserving and promoting local history, and can assist with publishing members’ historically relevant, vetted papers. The NHS maintains and develops its website as a resource for its work and news.
