## Description

Norsk Bergverksmuseum is a cultural and natural history museum in Kongsberg, Norway, dedicated to the region’s mining heritage and wider industrial history. The museum manages the nationally significant Kongsberg Silver Mines heritage site, including its historic buildings and collections. Its holdings also encompass the Bank of Norway’s coin-making collection, the Kongsberg industrial history collection and the Kongsberg Ski Museum.

Visitors can explore the Silver Mines and discover the museum’s Geolab, while the institution offers exhibitions, educational programmes and learning activities for schools and kindergartens. Its website also provides information about guided experiences, places to visit, digital interpretation and an events calendar. Groups can make bookings, and facilities are available for hire, including function rooms.

The museum is developing a new main exhibition, planned to open in summer 2027. The Museum in the Smeltehytta is currently closed for renovation. Norsk Bergverksmuseum also shares information about its history, staff, plans and heritage network, and welcomes visitors at its Kongsberg address.
