Northampton Area Public Library, located in Northampton, PA, is dedicated to being the first point of access for information, self-enrichment, leisure, and social connections. As a dynamic source of information, services, and programs in an ever-changing community, the library strives to offer something new to its patrons. Established on August 23rd, 1965, the library has a rich history. It originally opened its doors in the bay at the north end of the Northampton Memorial Community Center. However, due to the growing public needs, a building fund was established in 1966. In October 1971, Mr. George H. Schisler generously provided $125,000.00 for the construction of an Area Public Library Building. The land for the new building, located on Laubach Avenue, was deeded by the Borough of Northampton. The Northampton Area Public Library serves the boroughs of Northampton, Bath, and Chapmans, as well as the townships of Allen, East Allen, Lehigh, and Moore. Services offered include NAPL Online Card Application, Reader's Advisory, Request an Item, and various home services. The library also provides research resources, online classes, homework help, and access to digital collections including books, audio, magazines, and newspapers.
