## Description

The Northeast Ocean Data Portal is a public resource maintained by the Northeast Regional Ocean Council (NROC), providing maps, data, and information to support ocean planning across the northeastern United States. Its data explorer organizes information into two broad areas: marine life and habitat, and human dimensions. Topics include birds, fish, marine mammals, sea turtles, seagrass and tidal marsh, bathymetry, ocean conditions, water quality, and plankton, as well as aquaculture, commercial fishing, coastal resilience, marine transportation, energy infrastructure, recreation, and socioeconomic factors.

The Portal also makes information available to inform decision-making and public review of selected agency actions, in coordination with federal agencies including NOAA Fisheries, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, BOEM, the Coast Guard, EPA, and FERC. Users can explore maps and data, review updates, and access information for research and planning. The team shares quarterly newsletters and welcomes questions and feedback by email. The site also provides recommended citation guidance for using Portal maps and data.
