## Description

North Shore Rescue is a dedicated mountain and rescue team based in Vancouver, consisting of around 50 skilled volunteers proficient in search and rescue operations spanning mountain, canyon, and urban environments. This incredible team provides its services to various organizations, including Emergency Management BC, RCMP, municipal police and fire services, BC Ambulance Service, as well as other SAR teams in both BC and Washington. In addition, they also assist local and regional governments during civil emergencies, showcasing their invaluable expertise. North Shore Rescue conducts approximately 130 search and rescue operations each year, with some operations lasting multiple days. The team members participate in different support or rescue categories based on their individual skills and levels of involvement. Their mission is two-fold: to establish an organization dedicated to searching for and rescuing individuals in distress, and to support and collaborate with other organizations with similar purposes. They also aim to provide advice and expertise to civil authorities when needed. This volunteer-based community organization has been saving lives since 1965, making it one of the oldest SAR teams in Canada. Throughout their history, North Shore Rescue has been at the forefront of implementing innovative techniques and protocols for SAR operations. They were pioneers in training for human tracking, utilizing search dogs, establishing a dive team, and developing specialized protocols for treating hypothermia victims. North Shore Rescue is committed to providing its life-saving services to the public 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Despite being a non-profit organization, they do not charge for their services due to the potential risks associated with individuals delaying calls for help. They recognize the importance of prompt action in search and rescue operations. None of this would be possible without the incredible support they receive from their sponsors. As a non-profit organization, North Shore Rescue heavily relies on their generous sponsors to continue their vital work. In case of a search and rescue emergency, dial 911 and ask for the police.
