Norwegian Cognitive Center is a national consortium in Norway, in collaboration with IBM, that aims to lead the way in artificial intelligence (AI) technology and consulting. With the goal of bridging the gap between research and industry capabilities, the center focuses on raising expertise and competence in AI and accelerating its implementation. By sharing and collaborating on data, resources, competence, insight, innovation, and joint projects, Norwegian Cognitive Center aims to establish Norway as a robust European AI hub and attract world-leading expertise. In the short term, the center will develop specific projects within various industries such as aquaculture, media, finance, tourism, healthcare, real estate, infrastructure, and the public sector, and also initiate research projects. The long-term ambition is to cultivate specialized competence in cognitive technologies and AI, creating new high-tech jobs and business opportunities for consulting, emerging tech businesses, and new industries. The consortium consists of strong cross-sector industries, academic research environments, and the public sector, including key partners such as NORCE, NORA, and the Municipality of Bergen. Supported by an advisory board and project managers, Norwegian Cognitive Center is funded by a combination of public funds and industry contributions. Their headquarters are located in Media City Bergen Media Lab in Bergen, Norway.
