## Description

The Nederlandse Ornithologische Unie (NOU) is a Dutch association that connects volunteer and professional bird researchers and encourages contact and collaboration between them. It supports the ornithological community through publications, events, specialist groups, committees and funds. Its journals include Limosa and Ardea, and its activities include congresses, themed days and excursions. Themed days are generally open to non-members as well as members. The NOU also shares organizational updates and news through digital newsletters, which members receive approximately six times a year.

The association brings together several groups and initiatives, including the Avifaunistische Kring Nederland, the Nederlandse Zeevogelgroep, and committees focused on bird taxonomy and systematics. Its affiliated foundations and funds include the Stichting Huib Kluijver Fonds, Stichting Vogeltrekstation and Stichting P.A. Hensfonds. The NOU also provides access to information about its journal and book library collections in Nijmegen and Groningen; lending arrangements vary, and the Groningen collection is temporarily in storage.
