## Description

The Natural Resources and Environment Board Sarawak (NREB) is a state government agency established in 1994 under Sarawak’s Natural Resources and Environment Ordinance. Its role is to protect the state’s natural resources and environment, enforce environmental legislation, and promote responsible development and long-term conservation for current and future generations. NREB supports environmental management through guidance and oversight of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and Environmental Management Plans (EMP), including consultant registration, report evaluation, and post-approval monitoring. Its work also covers environmental compliance and enforcement, scheduled waste management, greenhouse gas initiatives, and access to environmental information. The Board provides professional training and technical resources, publishes policies, guidelines, handbooks, and newsletters, and offers online services such as the Environmental Information System Sarawak (EnvISS) and the EIA Consultant Management System. NREB also promotes public awareness and environmental education through school-based PALS clubs, recycling activities, community programmes, and events. Its website provides announcements, air pollution index updates, news, publications, staff and office information, and channels for feedback and complaints.
