NuSTREEM is Mesa Associates, Inc.’s modern, modular hydropower offering, developed to support clean, renewable power generation with a focus on reducing the environmental impact of installation and operation. Its small generating systems can replace diesel generators used for plant startup, support plant batteries or grid-based battery energy storage systems, and help maintain minimum stream flows. The base hydro unit is designed for water heads from 10 to 40 feet, while Mesa is expanding the technology for higher-head applications.

The product range includes NuTURBINE™, a modular, modernized Kaplan turbine for low-head projects, typically sized from 75 kW to 250 kW and scalable for larger sites; NuTECH™, a controller using specialized control algorithms to improve existing Kaplan turbine performance and efficiency; and NuCONTAINER™, an ISO shipping-container-based system intended to simplify integration and reduce hydropower site costs. NuBRAKE™ provides gas-over-hydraulic braking for emergency or controlled closures. Mesa also offers hydropower project expertise and has installations in Connecticut and Massachusetts, including a five-turbine site with up to 500 kW total capacity.
