## Description

The Native Women's Association of Canada (NWAC) is a national Indigenous organization that has been the voice for Indigenous women since 1974. NWAC represents the political interests and advocates for the rights of Indigenous Women, Girls, Two-Spirit, Transgender, and Gender-Diverse+ (WG2STGD+) People in Canada. They are inclusive of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities, both on and off-reserve, as well as status, non-status, and disenfranchised individuals. NWAC's mission is to enhance, promote, and foster the social, economic, cultural, and political well-being of Indigenous WG2STGD+ People in their respective communities and Canadian societies. NWAC offers a wide range of programs and services that address various issues, including economic development, youth advocacy, labour and employment, poverty reduction, skills development, education and early learning, legal affairs and justice, health, environment, housing, social development, and more. They provide support, resources, and advocacy to achieve equality, preserve Indigenous culture, and advance the well-being of all Indigenous WG2STGD+ People, their families, and communities. NWAC's strategic goals focus on building a strong organization, advocating for key issues, increasing communication and resources, and building leadership capacity for Indigenous women, girls, and gender-diverse people. In alignment with their mission and vision, NWAC envisions an inclusive world that understands and respects the diversity and uniqueness of all Indigenous women, girls, 2SLGBTQQIA+ people, and families. Through their work and initiatives, they aim to create communities where individuals can develop their talents, lead healthy lifestyles, build pride and strong identities, broaden their knowledge, attain academic education, and foster unity and cooperation among Indigenous nations. NWAC also strives for communities to have authority over natural resource utilization, free from racism and discrimination. The Board of Directors, along with Provincial/Territorial Member Associations (PTMAs), play a vital role in NWAC's governance and decision-making. They work collaboratively to evaluate, review, and provide direction to ensure the organization's overall success. Overall, NWAC is dedicated to advocating for and inspiring Indigenous women, girls, 2SLGBTQQIA+ people, and their families, representing their political voices, and working towards a future of equality, respect, and well-being.
