## Description

Nweke Nest, also known as the N.E.S.T., is the research group of Dr. Chukwuebuka C. Nweke, an assistant professor in the University of Southern California’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The group develops frameworks to assess and evaluate natural hazards, with the goal of strengthening the resilience of civil infrastructure and the systems that support it. Its work focuses on four connected themes: natural hazards, engineering resiliency, sustainable foresight, and collaborative excellence. Research areas include earthquakes, wildfires and floods; seismic ground-motion modeling; geotechnical and geomechanical modeling; hazard-engineering data analytics; and post-disaster reconnaissance. The group’s projects and publications address topics such as seismic hazard analysis, infrastructure interventions, dam vibrations, and earthquake ground-motion data resources. Nweke brings academic and professional experience from UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Davis, and engineering work at ENGEO. Through its research, publications, news, and media, Nweke Nest shares work intended to support informed hazard assessment and more durable, adaptable, and sustainable infrastructure.
