## Description

The New York Preservation Archive Project (NYPAP) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to documenting, preserving, and celebrating the history of historic preservation in New York City. With a mission to bring neglected narratives of New York historic preservation to light, NYPAP aims to provide public access to information through their collections, oral histories, and preservation history database. New York City's preservation movement has been a model and inspiration for communities worldwide, with a track record of successes and a rich history spanning over 100 years. However, the ongoing loss of preservation pioneers and their invaluable knowledge threatens a sense of preservation's own past. Personal papers and crucial information disappear with them, leaving preservationists and the general public unaware of the movement's achievements and how they were accomplished. NYPAP believes that by preserving these stories and offering public programs, they can reaffirm the legitimacy and urgency of preservation in the city. By supporting NYPAP, you are contributing to the preservation of New York City's architectural, cultural, and community treasures, ensuring their protection for future generations. Join NYPAP in their mission to safeguard the history that defines New York City.
