## Description

The New York State Wildlife Management Association (NYSWMA) is a professional organization dedicated to resolving conflicts between people and wildlife across New York State. Founded in 1992, it promotes the safe, legal, and ethical removal of animals that pose health or safety concerns, while supporting professional conduct and public understanding of wildlife management. Its members include Nuisance Wildlife Control Operators (NWCOs), who are licensed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and specialize in wild animal problems, from squirrels in attics and bats in homes to raccoons in chimneys and beavers causing flooding.

NYSWMA provides public information and helps people find a NWCO by city or county. It also organizes meetings, seminars, and annual training opportunities, and works with agencies and other organizations on wildlife management issues. The association supports member education, adherence to a code of ethics, appropriate liability insurance, and participation in state and national conferences.
