## Description

Haidgauer Narrenzunft Chadaloh e.V. 1975 is a traditional carnival association based in Haidgau, Germany. Its roots lie in the local Fasnet celebrations, which residents have maintained for generations, with historical references dating back to the early 19th century and accounts of local carnival plays from 1928. The association preserves and shares these customs through its website, which features a chronicle, event information, photographs, a carnival song and details about its masked characters.

The Chadaloh, Hugibold, Pebo and Wago figures wear white-ground costumes, while the Wolfsleib is a contrasting black-ground character. Each costume is individually hand-painted with scenes inspired by Haidgau’s rural life and surrounding wetlands, so no two designs are alike. Their masks and costume elements draw on local stories and traditions. The association also includes figures such as the Fasnetslader and Wachtmeister in its carnival activity. Guided by the principle that a fool’s greatest happiness is bringing joy to people, the group celebrates Fasnet while keeping Haidgau’s distinctive heritage alive.
