## Description

The New Zealand Institute of Chemistry (NZIC) is a professional association for chemists and chemistry educators in Aotearoa New Zealand. Founded in 1931, it serves more than 800 members involved in the study, practice, teaching, promotion, and management of chemistry. Its six geographically based branches connect members across the country, while the institute’s leadership and member resources support the profession and its community.

NZIC offers membership benefits, events, conferences, grants, and opportunities to recognise achievement through fellowships, prizes, and awards. Its education resources include open teaching materials, professional learning and development videos, lectures, chemistry examinations, and support for schools and educators through SCENZ and the Chemical Education Trust. Members and visitors can also explore chemistry publications, news, press releases, career information, and chemistry and science links. The institute promotes professional standards through its Code of Ethics and provides policies covering privacy and equity, diversity, and inclusion. NZIC is a member of Royal Society Te Apārangi and Commonwealth Chemistry.
