## Description

O Abrigo, Centro de Solidariedade Social de São João de Ver, is a social solidarity organisation serving children, older adults and families. Its work combines care, education and practical support, with an emphasis on creating welcoming relationships and helping people maintain their wellbeing and independence.

For children, O Abrigo provides a creche where families can find a safe, caring environment while they work. The service supports children’s curiosity and development alongside day-to-day care. For older adults and their families, the organisation offers a day centre, home support and Porto de Abrigo, its residential care service for older people. These services respond to differing needs as dependence increases and families adjust to new circumstances.

O Abrigo also developed Cuidar com o Coração, a training programme for people caring for residents in older-adult homes. It introduces Porto de Abrigo’s operations and tools for monitoring organisational and caregiver performance, promoting tender, attentive care.
