## Description

Manila Observatory is a private, non-stock, non-profit scientific research institution in the Philippines. Established in 1865 by the Jesuit mission, it began with the systematic observation of Philippine weather under Federico Faura. Today, the Observatory is committed to building a scientific culture that supports sustainable development through research, public information, and collaboration.

Its work spans climate and environmental science, including regional climate systems, air quality dynamics, upper-atmosphere dynamics, solid Earth processes, and geomatics for environment and development. The institution also develops data and sensor capabilities and supports resilience initiatives through its Resilience Collaboratory. Its activities include research projects, publications, workshops, and other capacity-development efforts, as well as engagement on climate justice and related issues.

The Observatory makes information available through resources such as its Geoportal, Panahon weather initiative, climate change center, archives, and climate e-learning hub. It also shares news, features, newsletters, and annual reports. Based in Diliman, Quezon City, Manila Observatory connects scientific research with knowledge and activities relevant to communities and sustainable development.
