Oceanside Library has a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1938. It began as a small association library with around 2,000 titles and one dedicated librarian. Recognizing the need for a larger space, a new building was constructed on Davison Avenue in 1941. Over the years, the library continued to expand to meet the growing demands of the community, including a new addition in 1950 and further expansions in 1997 and 2009. Today, Oceanside Library is a modern and spacious facility offering a wide range of products and services. With a collection of over 258,000 items, it caters to the diverse interests and needs of its 25,000 registered cardholders. The library provides access to books, media, ebooks, and audiobooks, as well as magazines, TV shows, movies, and music streaming. It also offers a variety of programs and events for all ages, including author visits, book clubs, lectures, crafts, cooking classes, and technology workshops. Additionally, Oceanside Library provides valuable resources and services such as online resources, tax help, genealogy research, and museum passes. As a member of the Long Island Library Resources Council, Oceanside Library is committed to serving the community and promoting lifelong learning.
