## Description

The Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies (OCHS) is an independent, non-political and non-sectarian research centre in Oxford, dedicated to the academic study of Hindu traditions and their diversity. For nearly three decades, it has provided a welcoming community for people interested in Hindu philosophies, cultures and languages, with an emphasis on academic excellence and cultural understanding.

OCHS conducts research across fields including Indian philosophy, contemporary Hinduism, Vaiṣṇava, Śākta and Śaiva traditions, comparative religion, archaeology and religion, and Jaina studies. It shares scholarship through publications such as the Journal of Hindu Studies and the Mandala and Routledge Hindu Studies series, as well as lectures, conferences and online learning resources.

The centre also provides teaching and continuing education, including self-taught online courses on subjects such as the Bhagavad Gita, Hindu temples, the epics and Vaishnavism. Its activities include visiting-student opportunities, a library and archive, bursaries, outreach, and community programmes such as Hindu chaplaincy and a Gita Study Group.
