## Description

The National Oedicneme Project focuses on the conservation of the Oedicneme criard (Burhinus oedicnemus), a bird of significant ecological heritage prominently found in French agricultural landscapes. This collaborative initiative aims to monitor various representative populations across the nation that face differing levels of agricultural disturbance. The project is groundbreaking as it embarks on a large-scale campaign to enhance understanding of the species' demographic parameters, reproductive success, and ecological factors affecting its survival.

Key activities within the program include monthly surveys of breeding pairs in suitable habitats, nest success tracking, and demographic assessments through bird banding. Additionally, GPS tracking will be implemented to study adult movements and foraging behaviors. The project also evaluates the birds' exposure to harmful chemicals while fostering a national collaborative effort to aggregate and share vital knowledge for effective conservation strategies. Through partnerships with organizations, laboratories, and studies in various regions, the National Oedicneme Project seeks to address the alarming decline of this emblematic species in agroecosystems across France.
