## Description

Ohana Life is a California Family Home Agency that connects adults with developmental disabilities to caring providers who can offer a safe, welcoming home and individualized support. Operating under the California Department of Developmental Services and contracted through Kern Regional Center, the agency aims to make family-home living about more than a place to stay: its focus is dignity, personal choice, meaningful relationships, and a sense of belonging.

Ohana Life supports prospective providers through preparation and required training, including CPR, First Aid, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, and skilled development. Its services include background checks, home assessments, placement guidance, and thoughtful matching based on an individual’s needs, preferences, and compatibility with the household. Individuals can visit prospective homes and take part in pre-placement visits. After placement, providers receive ongoing guidance, monitoring, annual continuing education, help with behavioral concerns, coordination with the regional center, and access to urgent and after-hours support. Provider homes may serve up to two individuals, each with their own bedroom.
