## Description

The Oral History Society (OHS) is a charitable society supporting oral historians across the UK and beyond. Guided by the belief that everybody’s story matters, it helps people collect, preserve and make accessible accounts of lived experience. The Society serves practitioners, researchers, community groups and anyone interested in oral history through practical advice, training, publications and a member community.

Its resources cover the full life of an oral history project, including planning and funding, interviewing, recording equipment, ethics, copyright, data protection, archiving and access. The OHS offers introductory and advanced courses, tailored group training and specialist workshops on topics such as interview analysis, transcription, audio editing and archival management. Members receive the Society’s journal twice a year, online access to past issues, discussion-group participation, special interest groups and discounts on courses and conferences.

The OHS also publishes articles, reviews and a blog, and hosts events and conferences. Its special interest networks connect people working in areas including LGBTQ history, migration, education, archives, journalism, creativity and the environment.
