## Description

Old Economy Village is a brand that takes pride in preserving, presenting, and proclaiming the extraordinary history of the Harmony Society. As one of the oldest and most successful religious communal groups of the nineteenth century, the Harmony Society aimed to create a utopia guided by the mystical religious teachings of their leader, George Rapp. At Old Economy Village, visitors can immerse themselves in the captivating story of this remarkable society. Explore the exhibits that showcase the Harmonist history, including George Rapp's silk velvet coat and cap. Discover the history of the village itself, from its establishment in Pennsylvania to later migrations and settlements. In addition to the historical attractions, Old Economy Village also offers a variety of engaging events throughout the year. From guided tours to special reunions and gatherings, there is always something exciting happening at this National Historic Landmark. Old Economy Village is an endeavor administered by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, with vital support from the Friends of Old Economy Village, a non-profit community-based organization. Join us on this journey to the past and be inspired to strive for a better future.
