Welcome to Old House Gardens! As America's only mail-order source dedicated to heirloom bulbs, we take great pride in preserving these fabulous relics. Our mission is simple: Save the Bulbs! We search the globe for old bulbs at risk of extinction, research their histories, and work with small farmers to grow them. We even have our own micro-farms in Ann Arbor. Our dedication to delivering the highest quality bulbs has made us a trusted partner and friend to gardeners across America. Our journey began with the 'Prince of Austria' tulip in 1993. When the last North American source disappeared, our founder Scott Kunst refused to let this remarkable tulip go extinct. He mailed his first catalog to 500 people, and the response was overwhelming. Since then, we've grown and expanded. We converted vacant lots and under-used land into urban micro-farms, greening the planet while saving more bulbs. In 2017, we relocated to a historic farmstead at the Washtenaw Food Hub, where we consolidate our micro-farms. What sets us apart from other catalogs is that our bulbs come primarily from small American growers, supporting local farmers and offering bulbs specially adapted to US conditions. While we do work with international growers, we believe in the value of supporting America's family farms. Our incredible crew of friendly and knowledgeable bulb-lovers ensures that every customer enjoys a top-notch experience.
