## Description

The Guild of One-Name Studies is a registered charity that supports people researching the history and distribution of a particular surname, whether or not those who share it are related. Its international community includes members conducting thousands of surname studies, with approaches ranging from family reconstruction and data collection to documenting personal and family stories.

The Guild provides resources and learning opportunities for family historians at different stages of their research. Members and visitors can explore online indexes covering subjects such as marriages, probate records, inscriptions and newspapers, alongside the Guild’s Wiki, library and educational materials. The organization also offers courses, webinars, seminars and presentations on genealogy research, software and DNA analysis.

Members can connect through forums, email and a Facebook group, share research through the quarterly Journal of One-Name Studies, and publish work on member websites. The Guild can also help members create websites and preserve research online or in its archives.
