## Description

As-Suffa is an Islamic education organisation founded by Shaykh Zahir Mahmood in 2004. It began as a Maktab offering essential Islamic education to children aged 5 to 16, and later established part-time and full-time Alimiyyah programmes for students aged 16 and above at its Aston base in Birmingham. The organisation reports that its courses have produced 45 male and 45 female scholars, many of whom serve their local communities and the wider Muslim community.

Since 2023, As-Suffa has also offered a six-year online Alimiyyah course for male and female students beyond Birmingham, with a new intake planned for January 2026. Designed for people balancing study with work or other commitments, the programme runs weekday evenings and combines traditional Islamic learning with modern teaching methods. Its curriculum includes Arabic language and literature, grammar, morphology, speaking and writing, Quranic recitation, Seerah, and Islamic law, alongside other core Islamic sciences. Students develop skills to understand religious texts and serve their communities.
