## Description

Onomichi Akiya Saisei Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to revitalizing vacant houses and supporting community life in Onomichi, Japan. Since 2007, the project has worked on restoring and reusing local properties, connecting residents and visitors with the town’s architecture, history, and culture. People can take part in its activities, support its work, or make use of restored properties for short stays and other space needs.

The organization also offers a varied program of events and learning opportunities. These include guided walking tours of restored houses and neighborhood spaces, workshops at restoration sites, and talks about town planning and the challenges facing Onomichi. Creative programs invite writers and manga artists to stay and work in the city, while cultural events celebrate local artists and heritage. Participants can also join community gatherings, including activities held in a large traditional-style room. Through property restoration, temporary accommodation, tours, workshops, and public events, the project encourages people to engage with Onomichi and contribute to the continued use of its vacant homes.
