## Description

ONT Italia, formally the Organizzazione Nazionale Tabacco Italia, is an Italian tobacco producer organisation established in 2002 at the initiative of Coldiretti. Originally recognised as a common organisation in 2010, it became a recognised Producer Organisation in 2017, adapting its role to developments in agricultural policy and the market and to the sustainability challenges facing its members.

Its membership comprises cooperatives of tobacco growers cultivating major tobacco varieties. ONT Italia represents approximately half of Italy’s tobacco production, with members in Campania, Umbria, Tuscany and Veneto. It also belongs to Unitab Europa, the organisation representing European tobacco growers.

ONT Italia’s work focuses on representing and supporting its member cooperatives and the wider tobacco-growing sector. Its activities include sharing sector news and data, covering relevant legislation, and promoting discussion of the industry’s development. The organisation also participates in events and initiatives concerning the tobacco supply chain, including territorial roadshows with Coldiretti and Philip Morris Italia that address cooperation between agriculture and industry.
