## Description

The Ocean Observatories Initiative (OOI) Regional Cabled Array (RCA) represents a pioneering effort in oceanographic research, aimed at enhancing our understanding of underwater ecosystems and geophysical processes. Hosted by the University of Washington School of Oceanography, the RCA utilizes advanced technology to collect and transmit real-time data from a network of cabled observatories. This initiative features a variety of research sites, including notable locations like Axial Caldera and Oregon Offshore, that are equipped with innovative sensors and instruments, such as deep and shallow profilers, remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), and a comprehensive cabled network.

The InteractiveOceans website serves as a central hub for information about the RCA, offering access to educational resources, expeditions, and a rich media gallery. It aims to engage educators, scientists, and students by providing open-access data and insightful educational tools to support ocean literacy. Through these efforts, the OOI fosters public interest and engagement in ocean research, contributing to the broader understanding of marine science and environmental stewardship.
