## Description

Oostfräisk Instituut is an independent language institute dedicated to promoting access to East Frisian Low Saxon and supporting the development of Frisian language, culture, and scholarship. It is supported by the umbrella association Oostfräisk Instituut e.V., whose members include organizations from the Frisian movement and individual members. The institute also operates its own publishing imprint, Oostfräisk Ferlağ.

Its work brings together language learning, reference resources, and digital tools. The institute offers East Frisian language courses, including a beginner-level A1 course developed with the adult education center VHS Leer, and provides materials on vocabulary and grammar. Its website also features information about East Frisian and related Frisian varieties, including Saterland Frisian and Wangerooge Frisian.

A notable digital project is Oostfräisk TTS, a free, AI-based text-to-speech tool that reads written East Frisian aloud. The institute presents this technology as a resource for supporting the preservation and everyday use of the language. Through its courses, publications, research-related work, and digital offerings, Oostfräisk Instituut helps connect people with East Frisian language and culture.
