The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) is dedicated to creating a world free of chemical weapons. As the implementing body for the Chemical Weapons Convention, the OPCW works tirelessly to verify and eliminate chemical weapons globally. With 193 Member States, their mission is to ensure the permanent and verifiable eradication of chemical weapons.

The OPCW's work encompasses a wide range of activities. They promote chemistry for peace, supporting national implementation efforts, preventing re-emergence of chemical weapons, and responding to the use of chemical weapons. They also focus on supporting victims, achieving universality of the Convention, and ensuring preparedness.

Through their Verification, Inspectorate, and International Cooperation and Assistance divisions, the OPCW enforces the Convention's obligations. They work in close collaboration with their partners, including the Advisory Body on Education and Outreach, Confidentiality Commission, and Scientific Advisory Board. With a stellar track record, the OPCW has seen the destruction of all declared chemical weapons stockpiles and ensures that 98% of the global population lives under the Convention's protection.
