## Description

The American Transparency Project (ATP) is a public-information initiative focused on promoting transparency and accountability in the United States federal government. Its guiding principle is that a transparent government is an accountable government, and its aim is to help citizens understand, influence, and benefit from government actions. ATP operates USApedia, a collaborative wiki designed to build a broad reference on federal agencies and their work. Its coverage includes government departments and agencies, major sub-organizations, programs and initiatives, partnerships, and federal contractor companies. The site organizes information through an A–Z index, topic portals, lists, and structured data tables covering organizations, domains, and contractors. It also invites visitors to register as editors and contribute new articles, with guidance available through its welcome and help pages. USApedia uses MediaWiki, including the Cargo extension to store and query structured information in templates and tables. The project notes that some content is AI-crafted and may require verification, encouraging readers to check important details.
