# Code for Africa

- **Website:** <https://open.africa>
- **Primary alias:** `open.africa`

## Description

It aims to become Africa’s largest independent repository of open data, providing a place to discover datasets and connect with organisations and groups working with data. The platform also offers a channel for submitting data requests, alongside tools and resources such as a CKAN API, DataLab, helpdesk, and information for prospective partners.

openAFRICA is part of a network of digital infrastructure built by Code for Africa (CfA), which describes itself as Africa’s largest non-profit civic technology and open data catalyst, with labs across the continent. The site is provided as free, open-source software for use by organisations that defend human rights, and CfA encourages others to reuse it to empower their communities.

Content published by CfA on openAFRICA is released under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. The platform also provides attribution information for other work, and offers community updates through its newsletter.
