## Description

OpenCitations is an innovative infrastructure organization focused on promoting open scholarship through the publication of bibliographic and citation data. Established in 2010, it aims to create a community-driven, accessible platform for global scholarly information. OpenCitations serves as a free alternative to proprietary citation services, offering comprehensive high-quality bibliographic metadata. Its data is available for unrestricted use under a Creative Commons CC0 Public Domain Waiver, encouraging reuse for various purposes, including commercial use.

The organization facilitates access to essential scholarly information for researchers, academic administrators, and funding bodies worldwide. Users can explore extensive datasets, download data collections, and query information through the OpenCitations APIs. Managed by the Research Centre for Open Scholarly Metadata at the University of Bologna, OpenCitations prioritizes interoperability and integration with other open research resources. Committed to transparency, it also provides resources for user support and feedback, ensuring an inclusive and knowledgeable community around open scholarship.
