## Description

The Open Source Initiative (OSI) is a California-based non-profit corporation established in 1998. As the steward of the Open Source Definition, OSI plays a crucial role in building and advocating for a vibrant open source software ecosystem. Their mission focuses on educating users about the benefits of open source technology and promoting collaboration among communities, developers, and organizations. OSI's activities range from participating in conferences and public advocacy events to maintaining the Open Source Definition, which safeguards the integrity of open source licenses. OSI provides resources and support to facilitate educational programs, courses, and seminars centered on non-proprietary software. Through initiatives like the Open Source Initiative Approved License program, they foster trust and cooperation among users, developers, and corporate entities. OSI empowers individuals and institutions to fully embrace the flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and innovation that open source software promises, ultimately working toward a future where open source freedoms are accessible to all.
