Open Space Agency (OSA) is the first agency dedicated to unlocking the talent and insight of citizen space explorers. They are part of a growing community of 'Astropreneurs' who believe that the technology, skills, and industrial base needed for space exploration are now within the reach of small teams of passionate individuals. OSA's mission is to accelerate the citizen era of space exploration. In the past, space exploration was limited to governments, requiring the invention of new technology from scratch and significant risk. After the 'Space Race,' commercial entities took over space exploration using proven technology and profiting from the telecommunications boom. However, things have changed again. The emergence of platform technologies such as cube sats, additive manufacturing, and low-cost micro controllers has significantly reduced the cost of space exploration, allowing anyone to conceive and launch their own space program. OSA's vision is to enable a new era of citizen aerospace exploration by making consumer space technologies accessible. They have already achieved significant milestones, including winning NASA's International Space Apps Hackathon in 2012 for their innovation and being a finalist in Space Start-up Weekend's inaugural Hackathon. They have also designed and developed the world's first open-source automated robotic observatory. Headquartered in London, United Kingdom, OSA is leading the way in empowering individuals to explore space and revolutionize the field of aerospace.
