# The Orbital Index

- **Website:** <https://orbitalindex.com>
- **Primary alias:** `orbitalindex.com`

## Description

The Orbital Index was a curated newsletter covering space and the space industry, offering brief, technical, and accessible reporting for readers interested in new developments beyond Earth. Founded by longtime friends Ben and Andrew, it began as a way to learn about the industry and explore clear, concise science communication. Assistant editor Sarajane later joined the team, and the publication built an avid following over nearly seven years and 350 issues.

Its content brought together selected news, analysis, and links on topics ranging from launch vehicles, satellites, and commercial spaceflight to lunar exploration, planetary science, and emerging space businesses. The editors aimed to make subjects such as mission design and rocket engines understandable without sacrificing technical depth. The newsletter also examined how private companies and public programs were shaping the future of space.

The Orbital Index ended its weekly publication on January 7, 2026. Its complete archive remains available, and readers can subscribe to Orbital Index: Extended Mission for possible occasional posts.
